Our Mission

Parent Support Network of Rhode Island is a peer-run organization uses our lived experience with behavioral health in recovery and systems of care to empower children, youth, families, and individuals.

We provide trauma-informed support, education, and advocacy to prevent child abuse and neglect, reduce disparities, and work toward universal health, wellness, and recovery.

Our Story

Our journey began in 1986 as a group of parents with children facing mental health challenges coming together to support one another. We focus on providing community support and peer-based services for families involved in special education, child welfare, and juvenile justice.

In 2015, to better serve the needs of our community we expanded our work to represent adults who have experienced mental health and substance use challenges working towards or in recovery. Most of our staff are dual-certified as peer recovery specialists and community health workers.

What We Do

Raise Awareness

We drive community awareness about family behavioral health and child abuse prevention through education, outreach, and public engagement — empowering individuals and organizations to be part of the solution.

Educate & Support

We equip families and caregivers with practical tools, trusted information, and supportive resources to strengthen relationships, build resilience, and prevent abuse or crisis before it happens.

Advocate for Change

We champion family-centered policies and prevention strategies at the state and national levels, working with partners and policymakers to promote long-term safety, well-being, and equity for Rhode Island children and families.

Our Values

Prevention First

Creating supportive environments that reduce risk and build protective factors.

Family-Centered

Strengthening parental capacity and family well-being matters as much as preventing harm.
